Depending on the type of condition you have and the severity of your case, different techniques or strategies will be used. Dr. Romano and Dr. Schooley are experienced in a variety of chiropractic adjusting techniques, including Diversified, Thompson drop table, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Activator, and others. Dr. Romano and Dr. Schooley are also Board Certified with full Physical Therapy credentials so certain physical therapy modalities may be used in your treatment.
Specific Chiropractic AdjustmentsWe pride ourselves on providing great chiropractic care. We use careful manual or mechanical pressure placed on the spine or other regions to restore normal motion to malfunctioning joints. Our goal is to rely primarily on manual (not machine-assisted, no gadgets involved) adjusting (also called "manipulation") of the spine, using the appropriate amount of force to provide the correction that is needed.Extremity AdjustingMany times we will find misalignments in the joints of your arms, legs, hands, feet, wrist, shoulder, jaw, or other area that we will be able to address. Please feel free to ask us during an office visit. Extremity adjustments can be mich different than spinal adjustments, including in the methods used to locate problematic joints and the ease of adjusting different joints in the body.Heat TherapyWe will apply moist heat packs to relax over-excited muscles. It is a simple and effective technique to relax tense muscles, and relaxed muscles mean the adjustment will be easier.Electrical Muscle StimulationWe can use electrical stimulation to calm tense muscles and reduce pain sensation. This is usually used with moist heat.Therapeutic MassageExperienced Massage Therapist Stacy Allgood-Smith from Allgood Therapeutic Massage works out of Park Bench Chiropractic in the evenings by appointment. Contact her at her website or call our office and we will help you set up your appointment with her.Vibratory MassageA handheld massaging device is often used to smooth off any rough edges before or after a much-needed adjustment.Manual TherapySometimes we will apply a traction force to your spine to relieve pressure on discs or spinal joints. Other manual therapies include massage and stretching, trigger point therapy, cranial manual therapy, and more.Flexion-DistractionThis is used to address disc inflammation or bulging, especially with symptoms going into the legs or arms. Flexion-distraction involves a specially designed adjusting table.Rehabilitation ExerciseStretching, strengthening & coordination development as well as ergonomic counseling aimed at rehabilitating injured regions. While we typically focus on pain-relief initially, we do our best to educate our clients and give them some exercises and stretches that will keep them from re-injuring themselves. |
